 10/9/15 Arrival in Istanbul -- our first glimpse of the Blue Mosque!
 Our leaders guide us in an opening reflection, overlooking Istanbul.
Chukri and Foza .... walking back to the Eresin Crown Hotel to 
prepare to go to Shabbat eve services at Aitz Chayim synagogue.

The hotel is behind the Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque) in the oldest part of the city. Very historic with a lobby filled with bits of history, chunks of columns, statues, and mosaics. It is not American style.  Oooh there is the evening call to prayer!

10 Tips for Interfaith Dialogue

Interfaith dialogue can be a meaningful and enriching experience, allowing people of different beliefs and backgrounds to come together in conversation and understanding. However, at times it can also be challenging and uncomfortable.  To foster respectful dialogue, it's essential to approach conversations with an open and curious mindset.  Here are ten ways to be mindful in interfaith dialogue. Practicing these techniques can create a more compassionate and empathetic discussion that celebrates differences and promotes greater understanding. 1. BE CURIOUS: Ask questions with the intent to learn rather than from a place of judgment.  2. LEARN THE DETAILS: Ask questions like “What is the greeting you say with this holiday?” 3. ACKNOWLEDGE MISTAKES WHEN THEY HAPPEN: Mistakes are bound to happen; we are only human. Be sure to acknowledge them and apologize for any harm done.  4. Board, donors, staff, and friends at a pre-event reception  Our 2 024 Dare to Understand Awards and 20th Anniversary celebration , held on June 6, 2024, was a remarkable occasion and a meaningful way to reflect and honor those who helped us reach this incredible milestone! With more than 275 people in attendance at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, we honored Imam Dr. Quaiser D. Abdullah, The Reverend Jesse B. Garner, Marjorie N. Scharf, The Very Reverend Judith A. Sullivan, and the Walking the Walk Alumni and Partners - all of whom have been central to living our vision, and whose dreams will shape the future of interfaith work.
